She is the author of the novel <em>Broken as Things Are<\/em> (Henry Holt, 2004; Picador, 2005). Her short fiction has appeared in several national and international literary journals and anthologies. In collaboration with Mary Ann Frese Witt, she translated Luigi Pirandello\u2019s <em>Six Characters in Search of an Author<\/em> (Italica Press, 2013) and <em>Henry IV<\/em> (Italica Press, 2016), as well as Grazia Deledda\u2019s<em> Ivy<\/em> (Italica Press, 2019). Grazia Deledda&#8217;s <em>Dance of the Necklace<\/em>, also translated in collaboration with Maryann Witt, is forthcoming from Italica Press this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marthawittauthor.com\/\">Martha Witt website<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mary Ann Frese Witt<\/strong> is professor emerita of Italian, French, and Comparative Literature at North Carolina State University.&nbsp; Her books include<em>Existential Prisons<\/em> (Duke University Press, <em>The Search for Modern Tragedy: Aesthetic Fascism in Italy and France <\/em>(Cornell University Press<em>), and Metatheater and Modernity: Baroque and Neo-baroque <\/em>(Fairleigh Dickinson University Press).&nbsp; In addition to the translations in collaboration with Martha Witt, she translated Pirandello&#8217;s novel <em>Suo Marito <\/em>(<em>Her Husband<\/em>) (Duke University Press) with Martha King.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Martha Witt is a professor of creative writing at William Paterson University.
